Causes

There are so many great causes in this world.  If you don’t have a cause, I’m hoping you will partner with one of mine.  I’ve listed a few below, why they mean so much to me and resources to get you connected.  I’ll blog about my partnerships with each so check back frequently!

Christ – First and foremost, Christ is the center of my life, my reason for living and my Savior.

  • 1 John 4:19 “We love because He first loved us.”
  • Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
  • Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Girls on the Run (GOTR) – GOTR is a non-profit organization that focuses on creating life-changing experiences for girls ages 8-11 by combining training for a 5K run with important life lessons that encourage healthy habits, self-esteem, positive thinking and an active lifestyle. I coached one season of GOTR as a way to share my running passion with others.  I hoped my love of running would rub off on them and I could help them with issues they face daily, but what actually happened was that the girls taught me.  They taught me about patience, taught me that being silly is the best part of the day, taught me that every girl, no matter how young or old has big dreams and there will always be obstacles and they taught me to just live a little more freely.  My name was “cool Cassie” (because we couldn’t think of anything else that started with a C) and I’ll never forget the time I spend with them.  Since then, I’ve been trying to sub when I can and hoping to jump back in the coaches’ wagon in 2013!

Beaches Habitat for Humanity – I love being a part of a team and nothing says teamwork like building a house!  Habitat for Humanity is a great organization dedicated to eliminate substandard housing in the Jax Beach area.  I’ve met really awesome people and have done work team building builds with Habitat and we always have a great time!

The Y – The Y has been an integral part of my life since 2005, when I got my first job as a camp counselor.  Through every new step in my life, the people at the Y have been there for me.  Likewise, I’ve seen the Y do amazing things for people in the community.  Just to name a few: starting a Charter School in the heart of the Westside, giving special needs a safe place to learn and grow, providing childcare and sports for thousands of children and enabling people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to live healthy lives.

  1. Thanks! It was a few years ago, but I always like to meniton that I was 40 years old when I ran that time. Not getting older, only better .I’m happy that I am able to coach my high school team. I think GOTR is such a great program.Debbie recently posted..
